Understanding Computer Security Dangers in the Digital Wild West By George Pettit

Today, more than ever, criminals are targeting computer systems in an attempt to wreak havoc. Complacency and ignorance, regarding security issues, are computer hacker's best friends. Computer Repairs Brisbane understands these risks and can help you implement a risk mitigation strategy. Some of the methods used to collect information about a system, network, and its users are: foot printing, scanning, and enumeration.
Foot printing is the methodical gathering of information about a company or individual's intranet, extra-net, internet, and remote access usage. Hackers exploit publicly available information like the name, address, and contact information for the party who registered the domain by using who's services. They harvest employee, vendor, and location details from the company's website. With an employees first and last names, hackers are often able to guess their user-names. More investigation of the employee on social networks will reveal a date of birth, children, spouses, and pet's names, home addresses, and phone numbers. Unfortunately, these are the very things that many people use as passwords.
Scanning is the electronic equivalent of casing a home or business for easy access. A burglar will check for unsecured windows and doors. Hackers search for unsecured networks by using ping sweeps, port scanning, and active operating system detection tools. If a hacker can access an unsecured port, they can exploit known vulnerabilities in your operating system or other application software.
Enumeration techniques seek out information about the services running on the network. Cyber criminals use banner grabbing to watch the output from remote applications. Applications like telnet send user-names and passwords across the network in plain text. Given the fact that many people use the same user-names and passwords for access to many different systems, this compromise can be devastating.
These are just a few of the methods used by hackers to document, assess, and attack your systems. Let Computer Repairs Brisbane be your first line of defense. Our technicians have the knowledge and skills to help you protect your network by implementing border protections, intrusion response and detection systems, and will provide you with the information that you need to make informed security policies.

The Benefits of Using Ink Refills By Connor R Sullivan Platinum Quality Author

nk is the fuel by which most printers are run. In the event that a printer runs out of ink, the results of printing will either be weak or completely absent. When this occurs, there are two ways of addressing the problem. People can either buy new ink cartridges which they will replace in the printer or they can simply opt for a printer ink refill. The latter is the more preferable option. People can quickly regain the use of their printer whenever it runs out of ink by being able to replenish the ink content of the toner cartridges. Ink Refills can be found in most hardware shops. They can also be purchased from vendors online. There are many advantages to using a refill. A few of these includes:
o Cleaner Options for the Environment: With the increased demand for cleaner and more efficient waste management methods, the use of refills allows printer owners to minimize the amount of debris which they generate over the months. Most cartridges allow people to open them and refill the contents when they have been exhausted. Because old cartridges can be refilled, people will therefore not have to worry about buying a fresh set of cartridges as replacements. This provides a greener and more acceptable approach to the restoration of the printer's contents.
o More affordable option: Because it is only the contents that is being bought and not the actual cartridge itself, resorting to this option is a lot more affordable choice. The cost of buying refills cuts the cost that would otherwise have been incurred by as much as fifty percent. In some instances, expenses can even be slashed by ratios as high as seventy percent. Over the months, this savings can add up to a great deal of money.
o Improved range of Applications: Not all printer use the same type of cartridges, however the color range is almost the same across the various types of printers. Even better, most ink refills are designed to be used with a wide range of printers. It is therefore possible to use ink refills for more than one type of printer. People who buy these refills will not have to worry about the problem of printer model and type. This option can be of great benefit in situations where the printer in question is outdated with hard to find replacement parts.
There are many other advantages to using refills. For instance, refills are easily portable and can last for many years in storage. Most of these refills are available in different colors and provide needles which are used in the injection of ink into the respective cartridges. Caution should however be taken during this process as transfers can sometimes become really messy resulting in stains on nearby surfaces. The quality of the ink bought will depend on the producer. People should therefore pay attention to the vendors or providers from who they buy their ink products. Some of these stores offer discounts or guarantees alongside their sale.

Connor R. Sullivan recently started getting his printer ink refill needs met online because of the convenience. He also purchased toner cartridges online because of convenience as well as being more affordable.
